Week 10: Eating Crow and Told Ya So

1423985I have no issues with being held in check. You win some and you lose some. You’re not always going to be right and that’s okay. Here, I recap my weekly picks and how they played out. San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore (pictured left) finally contributed quality Fantasy points, scoring his first rushing touchdown since Week 2.

Well hallelujah! Look who decided to run the ball?!? The 49ers snapped their two game losing streak and upset the Saints in overtime. To be fair, New Orleans made some key mistakes that helped San Fran stay in the game, but the fact that Gore carried the rock nearly ten more times than he had the previous week is worth noting. The vet rushed for 81 yards and a TD, resulting in his third best fantasy outing of the season. While Gore did lose steam as the game wore on, rookie Carlos Hyde was only called upon to run the ball four times. Yes, he did rumble his way into the end zone for a nine yard score, but his usage is so low and unpredictable that he remains no more than a handcuff until the 49ers show more regularity in spelling the elder RB.

Cam Newton
It wasn’t pretty, but Cam Newton did end up a top ten fantasy quarterback after a disheartening loss to the Eagles on Monday night. Had Coach Rivera heeded any sort of conventional wisdom and pulled his star signal caller from the game after the Panthers were trailing by 31 points heading into the fourth quarter, fantasy owners may not have gotten so lucky…
