Week 16: Running Back Round Up
Every week, I examine the most turbulent backfields to determine whether a backup is due for a bigger role and how any possible changes will affect Fantasy relevant stars. Here’s the Week 16 round up!
Fred Jackson, Anthony Dixon, CJ Spiller, Bryce Brown
The Bills kept their playoff hopes alive after a stunning upset over the Packers in Week 15. It’s interesting, then, that come this Sunday Spiller might see the field after having been sidelined for eight weeks. A talented RB who has yet to be used effectively by the Marrone regime, Spiller did open the season with back-to-back double digit fantasy games. After that, things went wonky until the Clemson product broke his collar bone in Week 7. Currently available in 70 percent of MFL leagues, Spiller’s matchup against the Raiders is a tempting one. Oakland is giving up the second most fantasy points to opposing RBs and has allowed nineteen scores to the position so far this season. Seven of those TDs were via the air, which is notable since Spiller’s skill set is suited for the passing game. While FJax is the obvious play in this game, it wouldn’t surprise me to see Spiller run hard in a last ditch effort to save his season, especially considering the timing of his contract. Given Buffalo’s offensive history, Spiller’s usage will be suspect, but his talent is as legit as the Bills’ need to win. A sneaky DFS play, Spiller is a Hail Mary flex for the bravest of fantasy diehards.
DeMarco Murray, Joseph Randle, Lance Dunbar
Talk about bad timing…
