Week 12: Running Back Round Up
Every week, The Fantasy Football Girl Liz Loza examines the most turbulent backfields to determine whether a backup is due for a bigger role and how any possible changes will affect Fantasy relevant stars.
Giovani Bernard – Jeremy Hill
After missing three consecutive weeks, Bernard is expected to start at Houston on Sunday afternoon. Prior to succumbing to a hip pointer after Week 8, the second year RB had received the lion’s share of the work and was out-touching Hill by a significant margin. With Gio sidelined, however, the rookie’s snaps increased by nearly 20 percent in Week 9. After a 154 yard and two touchdown performance, he was further incorporated into the offense and has averaged almost 5 YPC as a result. Heading into Week 12, my guess is that Bernard will be eased back onto the field and Hill will see roughly 60 percent of the immediate work. Both backs have a nice match-up as the Texans are giving up the thirteenth most fantasy points to RBs per game. Certainly, Hill has done a great deal to earn himself a larger role and given Bernard’s durability concerns will continue to be utilized. In my estimation, both backs have RB2 appeal with Bernard having more of an edge in PPR leagues and Hill finding more value in standard scoring formats. But this week I’d play it safe, and only flex Bernard until his workload becomes more defined and his injury recedes into memory.
Terrance West – Isaiah Crowell
Thanks to Ben Tate’s whining, the load has been lessened in Cleveland…
