Raiders Insider Report: RB Latavius Murray
The Oakland Raiders haven’t won a game in a full calendar year. Yes, you read that correctly. The last time the Silver and Black had a “W” next to their name was Week 11 of the 2013 season. While plenty of their decisions have been suspect, the organization has tried to shake things up and turn them around. From firing Dennis Allen to burying the game ball, this team has spun its wheels attempting to return to respectability.
In their seven point loss at San Diego this Sunday, the coaching staff may have had another overdue epiphany. It seems they’ve finally come to grips with the fact that an over-the-hill running duo may not be the answer. For the past 10 weeks, 27 year-old Darren McFadden and 29 year-old Maurice Jones-Drew have manned the backfield for Oakland. DMC has received nearly four times as many carries and tallied almost five times as many yards as MJD. As result of this complete lack of production, second year man Latavius Murray was mercifully unleashed from the Black Hole’s dungeon. And, in Week 11, tallied the most snaps he’s had this season.
