Mike Wallace… coming to a fantasy team near you
He ran a 4.28 second 40-yard dash at the ’09 Combine. He was the 11th WR chosen in the ’09 draft. He’s an explosive rookie on a team that transitioning from a rushing to a passing offense. And he’s only owned in about 50% of most fantasy leagues. His name is Mike Wallace and he’s someone you’re going to want to get to know.
Quickly becoming a reliable target for Big Ben, Wallace is making every play count. He’s averaging around 65 yards receiving per game and has scored 3 times in his last 4 outings. In Monday night’s victory over the Broncos, he had 4 catches for 65 yards and a TD. Not bad for the newest addition to a team that already has power house pass catchers like Hines Ward, Santonio Holmes, and Heath Miller. Clearly, this New Orleans native came to play.
Now, I agree he’s not Marques Colston or Donald Driver or even Nate Burleson. But he is a great WR3 option. So if you’re frustrated with Santa Moss or bummed because Hakeem Nicks is on a bye or just want more depth, then pick this guy up before the secret is out.
As of right now, he’s in the top 25 fantasy WRs (according to Yahoo!) just behind Derrek Mason and Sidney Rice – both of whom are 87%-88% owned in Yahoo! leagues. That means Wallace is an EXCEPTIONAL value, especially as we head into the final weeks of the fantasy season.
Run to your waiver wire now… because he’ll be gone in a flash.
